Payment timing
How long payers and platforms take to pay therapists
0 reports so far say how long payment took. This page fills in as reports arrive; it needs 5 before it shows a breakdown. The question comes up constantly and no public source answers it.
What the clock measures
Each report covers one span: the claim goes out, the money lands. It excludes the time spent getting credentialed, and it excludes a claim that was denied and resubmitted, which is a different problem with a different fix. A report describes the session it was filed for; a payer can change its cycle, and one clinician's experience can differ from another's at the same payer.
Why this is separate from the platform terms page
Platform terms records what Headway, Alma, Grow Therapy and Rula publish about their own payment schedules, each entry with a dated source. This page records what therapists say actually happened. The two answer different questions, and where they disagree, both numbers stay as they are.
Adding your timing
The rate form has one optional question for it. Pick the bucket that covers the gap between filing and payment; an estimate is what the question asks for. Leave it blank when you bill through a service that pays you on a fixed cycle and you cannot see the claim date.
Every report is self-reported and unverified. The form began collecting payment timing on October 10, 2026, so reports filed before then carry no timing and are not counted here. Buckets are reported as counts, with no average taken across them: the answers are estimates and the buckets are ordinal, so an average would read as more precise than the reports are.
